Teledyne Brown Engineering is announcing a partnership with the Huntsville International Airport to pursue Federal Aviation Administration part 433 and 435 to land Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Dream Chaser spacecraft. The company first proposed this innovative approach to the commercialization of low-Earth orbit in 2014 and led a feasibility study proving the compatibility of the spacecraft on current runway environments.
Teledyne Brown Engineering has supported essentially every major U.S. space initiative, from Jupiter through the space shuttle, International Space Station (ISS), and constellation programs. The company is based in Huntsville, Alabama where it was started over 60 years ago.

The Dream Chaser spacecraft is a reusable, multi-mission space utility vehicle (SUV). It is capable of transportation services to and from low-Earth orbit, where the ISS resides, and is the only commercial, lifting-body vehicle capable of a runway landing.
The licensing effort is expected to take about two years with the goal of landing the first space plane mission ever at a commercial airport in five years.
