HUNTSVILLE, AL - December 6, 2017 - Teledyne Brown Engineering has been awarded a contract from VSE Corporation to supply the Pluto Gigas Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Systems to be deployed by the Egyptian Navy. Teledyne Brown Engineering and teammate, IdRobotica, will be responsible for the build, assembly, testing and installation of the vehicle and its control systems.

Pluto Gigas is a counter-mine ROV that uses multiple sonar systems including Teledyne BlueView imaging sonar to identify and dispose of mines in prohibitive conditions. The vehicle is supplied to the Egyptian Navy through US Navy Foreign Military Sales and has the ability to conduct hydrographic reconnaissance and scientific missions in addition to counter-mine activities using modular sensor packages. The vehicle is deployed via crane from multiple surface hosts and operates at a depth of over 1900 feet (600 meters). Pluto Gigas is 10 feet long and has a mission endurance of up to 12 hours.
