As Chief Engineer for Teledyne Brown Engineering Withee is responsible for engineering practices and the coordination of the engineering workforce to meet program goals across the company. He also leads the integration of resources company-wide, monitors technical performance, and serves as the engineering and technical leader for the company with external customers. He has over 25 years of engineering and management experience across a wide range of technical areas. 

Prior to joining Teledyne in 2019, Withee was selected to be the Director of the Engineering Division for American Systems. This division provided engineering services in the areas of submarine ship control systems, sonar data acquisition, and ship structural design. 

In 2013, Withee returned to Naval Sea Systems Command to take on the role of Senior Systems Engineer on the propulsion system for the Ohio Replacement Program. He was responsible for developing component detailed design requirements, reviewing engineering deliverables, and providing subject matter expertise. Withee is an expert in the area of control system cybersecurity. He led the development of cybersecurity design requirements and procedures that protect U.S. Navy, U.S Coast Guard, and Military Sealift Command shipboard control systems from cyberattacks.

After retiring from the Navy, Withee took a position with an internet marketing company as the Director of Project Management. He led the development of multiple web-based applications and service offerings that were instrumental in growing company revenue from $25M to $90M in a four-year period. 

Withee joined the Navy at age seventeen and started his career in the Naval Nuclear Power Program as a nuclear mechanic. He then went on to become a Submarine Officer and later transitioned to the Engineering Duty Officer community. As an Engineering Duty Officer, he worked on design projects for submarine advanced technologies, Special Operations Forces combat submersibles, and a project related to vortex induced vibration mitigation. 

Withee has a Doctorate Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama and the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, he is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP). 

Withee is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He and his wife Paun have three children and live in Madison, Alabama.
