Space Science and Exploration
Teledyne Brown Engineering has extensive experience and capabilities in developing experimental hardware and supporting government operations in the broad fields of space science and exploration.
- Hardware/software development and operation/maintenance of space science facilities
- Design, development, and integration of experimental systems for operation in extreme environments
- Vehicle design, performance simulation, system optimization, mission analysis, and flight dynamics
- High-performance materials, safety and reliability, training and human factors, and cost-performance trades.
We have a rich heritage of accomplishments:
- Early activities included hardware development for the Apollo lunar exploration, conceptual design of the High Energy Astronomy Observatory, and fabrication of experimental facilities for Skylab.
- We integrated 24 Space Shuttle scientific missions and 8 missions of the shuttle program, involving over 200 experiments in a variety of disciplines for users around the world.
- More recently, we are supporting design and development efforts under the Constellation program, including Upper Stage design, development, and vehicle integration of Ares I.
Teledyne Brown presently manages several prime contracts for NASA providing capabilities in engineering, manufacturing, test, operations, software and data systems, and training. From conceptual design, through technology development, to payload integration, Teledyne Brown has the available capabilities to support the most demanding requirements and we are committed to helping our nation return to the moon and beyond.
