Teledyne Brown Hardware Flown On Endeavour
7/31/2009
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 31, 2009)— Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) today announced that $5M of space hardware manufactured by the company was flown on the STS-127 mission.
During two spacewalks, Endeavour astronauts Dave Wolf and Chris Cassidy replaced old batteries with new batteries that were flown on six sets of Battery Flight Support Equipment built by Teledyne Brown.
The company also built Flight Support Equipment (FSE) that carried a spare Ku-Band Space to Ground Antenna and a spare Pump Module on-orbit replacement unit for transfer of fluids around the International Space Station.
“We continue to develop and deliver essential components for the International Space Station that enable critical operations and support scientific research," said Rex D. Geveden, president, Teledyne Brown Engineering.
In addition, the FSE hardware will provide active heating and passive cooling to maintain survivability of the hardware until the spare is needed. Teledyne Brown also built the Large Adapter Plate Assembly (LAPA) that the Pump Module flew on and integrated those two units together for NASA back in 2008.
Teledyne Brown is a recognized expert in pressurized payload integration and has been a supplier of payload mission integration services for more than 20 years.
