HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 18, 2008) — Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) announced today that Dr. Roy E. Rice, Chief Technologist, was honored by the Military Operations Research Society (MORS) with its John K. Walker, Jr. Award, presented to the author of the best technical article published in PHALANX, the Bulletin of Military Operations Research, in the previous year. The award, presented annually at the MORS National Symposium, recognizes those who have expanded the application of military operations research techniques, improved their set of analytical tools, and communicated the results of their work by publishing an article in PHALANX. Rice is the 10th recipient of the award which was established as a memorial to John K. “Jack” Walker, Jr., who served as PHALANX Editor and Editor Emeritus and was respected for his work with MORS. “We are very proud to see Roy receive this prestigious award,” said Rex D. Geveden, president, Teledyne Brown Engineering. “Roy is a nationally-recognized expert in operations research and this award reflects that fact. But it also holds special meaning to Roy because he knew Jack Walker personally.” Rice is a Fellow of the Society and a Past President. His article entitled “Quantifying ‘Persistence’ in the Context of Find-Fix-Finish (FFF)” was published in the June 2007 issue of PHALANX. About Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc.
