12-05-2009
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (December 7, 2009 )— Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) today announced that the company has received a $13.7 million contract from the Department of Defense (DoD) to design, manufacture, install, and validate a new test chamber that will be used to test future biological warfare agent detection systems.
The Whole System Live Agent Test (WSLAT) designed by Teledyne Brown is made up of a large chamber that allows detection systems to be tested intact giving DoD the ability to more closely replicate the systems used by warfighters in combat.
“Teledyne Brown’s capabilities are well-suited for this
important, complex project,” said Rex D. Geveden, president, Teledyne
Brown Engineering.
WSLAT is a critical component of the DoD’s effort to upgrade its
chemical and biological defense test equipment used to support the
warfighter in the battlefield and enhance homeland security
capabilities. The contract was awarded through The Army Research
Development and Engineering Command Acquisition Center- Edgewood Office
in Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The WSLAT System will
